Terry Bolton talks about fishing for schools of fish on shallow flats in the late summer and fall. Tips on changing crankbaits, line size, longer rods, and more.
Preparation is key for a successful day on the water
Have you ever heard the saying "dress for success" or "dress to impress"? The same holds for bass fishing, prepare your rods and reels with the right line, the right tackle to get the job done. Bass are smarter than we think and see the same lures and presentations daily, those who prepare for the conditions at hand will have a good day on the water. Make sure you retie, you have what you need to present the bass with an offering they cannot pass up. I always make sure I have my Okuma Fishing Tackle rigged & ready to go so I don't miss a single moment while on the water. The night before make sure your batteries are charged, lunch is packed and your rods are ready to go. Dont forget to stay hydrated out there, it is hot. See you on the water

Summer Fishing
Summer bass fishing can be tough at times so slow down. Pick up your favorite lure whether it be a crankbait, spinnerbait or worm and fish it slow. Slow your retrieve and watch what you can catch. Remember to find what the bass are eating and match the hatch. If you are throwing a top water buzzbait because they are busting on shad, try a zara spook and walk the dog slowly and this can trigger a vicious strike. Good luck and see you on the water.

Spending Time on the Water
Spending time on the water is not only fun and exciting but is theraputic. When I spend the day out on the lake in search for schools of large bass I am one with nature, in tune with the water and my surroundings. Time on the water allows you to think about life, give thanks for all the things we have in life and connect with your spirituality. Even when preparing for a tournament when i am really trying to peice together the puzzle, i take a moment to reflect and thank God. After you reflect, use that positive energy to catch bass, pay attention to boat position, depth, water temp and what the bass are doing on that particular day.
